b. Find the Reading Check on p. 7; what is the purpose of it?

c. Find the Blue Question on p. 8; Infer what its purpose is.

d. Find the Section Review on p. 11; what is the purpose of the Summary?  In what way would the Self Check questions be helpful to you?

4) The Index
a. Where is the Index? 
b.  What kind of information does the Index provide?
c.  If you wanted to look up information on Force, where would you go to find the pages that have information on this subject?

5) The Glossary
a. If you wanted to find the definition kinetic energy, where would you find this information?
b. Why is the Glossary an important part of the textbook?

6)  Go to p. 35:  a. Why would it help you to read "Reviewing Main Ideas" before an assessment?
                          b. Visualizing Main Ideas (VMI) Complete the following concept map, i.e. fill in the bubbles with your glossary terms.
                         c. pp. 36-37, Read over the Chapter 1 Review; can you answer any of these already?  Assess yourself, discuss with your group, write the answers in your notebooks.
